- ENGLISH 6 Planning date: 19/02/2023 Period 65 UNIT SEVEN: LESSON 1.2: A. Objectives: 1. Knowledge. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to know how to use prepositions of time. 2. Skill: - improve speaking skills, listening skill. - improve the use of English. 3. Attribute: Students have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, especially with the topic “movie”. 4. Competencies: - improve the use of language. - develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with their partners, to self-study B. Method. Communicative approach C. Teaching aids. - Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, projector or TV - Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks. D. PROCEDURES I. Warm up: (5’) Option 1. Lucky number (Teacher - Students) Lucky Numbers: (Group work) - Write 10 numbers on the board from 1 to 10. - Tell students that each number is for a question but 4 of them are lucky number. For a lucky number, students will get 2 marks without answering any questions. For other numbers, students have to answer the questions. If their answer is correct, that team will get two points; if it is incorrect, the other team will answer and gets only one point for their answer. => T: Say the definitions of kinds of movies * Possible questions: 1. a movie that makes the audience laugh. 2. a movie that features cartoon characters. 3. Lucky number 4. a movie that usually features lots of stunts and fighting. 5. a movie that is set in the future, often featuring science. 6. Lucky number 7. Lead to the new lesson. II. New lesson Activity 1: Grammar: Prepositions of time (35’) a. Listen and repeat - Play the audio (CD2-16). - Ask students to repeat. - Ask students if they know what the words “on”, “at”, in the conversation are called in English. - Ask students to read the theory box. - Elicit the grammar rules from students. - Elaborate on the concepts of “days”, “dates”, “periods of time”, “specific times” by giving several examples to make sure students clearly understand these concepts. Ex1: on Sunday/ on September 5th Ex2: at night/ at noon... Ex3: in the Winter, in August/ in 2021.... - Listen and repeat in chorus. Activity 2: Practice b. Writes the time words in the correct box.

Objectives: 1. Knowledge. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - recognize the schwa sound /ə/ in the weak form of the preposition “at” and pronounce it correctly. - make and respond to suggestions about movies. - start the conversation in a friendly way. 2. Skill: Students can improve Speaking skill. 3. Attribute: Students have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, especially with the topic “movie”. 4. Competencies: - have awareness of protecting/ saving the environment B. Method. Communicative approach C. Teaching aids. - Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, projector or TV - Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks. D. PROCEDURES I. Warm up: (5’) - Let the students listen to the song "My heart will go on" - Encourage a S to sing the song Lead to the new lesson. II. Presentation: Pronunciation (10’) a. "... at..." often sounds like /ət/ (but not at the start). Briefly explain the pronunciation feature b. Listen. Notice the sound changes of the underlined words. - Play the audio and draw attention to the pronunciation feature. (CD2 - 17) - Play the audio again and have students practice. It's on at 7 :30. My lesson 's at 10. c. Listen and cross out the one with the wrong sound changes. - Play the audio and draw attention to the pronunciation feature. (CD2 - 17) - Ask students to listen and cross out the one with the option that doesn't use the correct pronunciation feature. I'm playing soccer at 2 p.m./ The movies starts at 7:30. - Play the audio again and check the answers - Ask students to listen again and give the answers as a whole class.

You are choosing movies to watch on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Work in pairs. Turn to page 122, File 6. - Setting the context of speaking task. - Demonstrate the activity/ the dialogue by practicing with a good student. - Have students turn to Page 122, File 6 b. Join another pair. Did you choose the same movies? - Have students join another pair and compare which movie they chose to watch - Have some students share their ideas with the class * Production/ free practice: - Encourage students make their own similar conversation. V. Consolidation (3’): - Ask students some questions that require the preposition “at” in the answers. - Ask the rest of the class to give feedback on whether their friends pronounce the word “at” correctly. - Ask students how to start a conversation in a friendly way. VI. Homework (2’) - Practice how to pronounce the sound change. - Practice speaking with your classmate to make and respond to suggestion about movies. - Write a short paragraph about an exciting movie you have seen recently. You should write: + Name of the movie + Type of movie + Actors/ actresses or director

Objectives: 1. Knowledge. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to express opinions and exchange information about movie 2. Skill: Students can improve their 4 skills (Main skill: Reading) 3. Attribute: Students have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities, especially with the topic “movies”. 4. Competencies: - have awareness of protecting/ saving the environment B. Method. Communicative approach C. Teaching aids. - Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, projector or TV - Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks. D. PROCEDURES I. Warm up: (5’) * Option 1: - Encourage a student to tell the class about an exciting movie he/ she has seen recently * Possible answer: Titanic is a romantic movie, directed by James Cameron. It stars Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet. The movie is about the sinking of the ship Titanic on its first voyage. The movie has a sad ending – the Titanic sinks and more than a thousand people die in the disaster. * Option 2. - Elicit some adjectives describing movies from the students using a spidergram to lead into the new lesson - Explain some new words if necessary * Possible answers: disappointing, exciting, amazing, boring, fantastic, terrible, funny, awful, great, gripping, scary, hilarious, violent, moving, shocking, ... => Lead to the new lesson. II. New lesson: Activity 1: Vocabulary (17’) a. Fill in the blanks with the opposite adjectives. Listen and repeat.
- - Pre-teach new words if necessary: terrible, sad, boring, funny, exciting, great, awful. Memory game: What and Where - Write the words on the board, put each word in a circle. - Ask students to chorally say the words - Rub out the word one by one - When all the circles are empty, ask students to say the words again; make sure the students can remember the words in association with the circles. - Call some students to go on the board and write the words in correct circles again. - Ask students to fill in the blanks with the opposite adjectives - Give feedback * Answer keys: terrible - fantastic sad - funny awful - great boring - exciting b. Activity 2: Reading (18’). * Pre - reading: - Set the context/ Introduce the topic of the reading task. * While - reading: a. Tina wrote two movie reviews for her blog. Underline the correct final sentences. - Have students read the two movie reviews and underline the final sentences. - Check the answer as a whole class. - Give feedback. * Answer keys: - Picture Day: Don't watch this movie. - Sally's Travels: What a fantastic movie! b. Now, read the reviews again and answer the questions.

Period 65 UNIT 8: ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES Lesson 4: Communication A. OBJECTIVE: By the end of this Unit, students will be able to get to know more about peoples and landmark of English speaking countries and present a small introduction of the English speaking countries to their friends. 1. Knowledge: - Vocabulary: words related to English spesking countries. 2. Skills: Practicing skills in individual/ pair/ group work 3. Attitude: - Positive about English speaking countries. - Students know how to learn English in right way. - Ss are interested in doing exercises. 4. Competences: - Co-operation - Self- study - Using some vocabularies and structures to talk about English speaking countries. B. PREPARATION: 1. Teacher: book, planning, picture, laptop, projector

Knowledge: - Vocabulary: words related to the attractions of a country 2. Skills: Practicing skills in individual/ pair/ group work 3. Attitude: - Positive about English speaking countries. - Students know how to learn English in right way. - Ss are interested in doing exercises. 4. Competences: - Co-operation - Self- study - Creativeness: talk about Scotland - Using language to talk about Australia B. On the second day, we take the 8.30 shuttle bus to the canoe club to join a canoe trip along the C&O canal. This canal is famous for its beautiful scenery, especially in autumn. The trip takes about three hours. In the afternoon, we visit the National Children's Museum. The brochure says that this museum offers children a lot of fun activities where they can learn through playing.
