- WEEK 11 LỚP 1 Date of teaching:26/11/2021 Period 10 UNIT 5: ANIMALS Lesson 1: A-C; Lesson 3: A-C I. Objectives: 1. Knowledge By the end of this lesson, students will be able to say names of some animals using “I like ” ; And “This is a ” Vocabulary: cat, dog, bird, monkey, snake, bear Structures: I like (cats). ; This is a . 2. Competence - Raising interests and good habits in learning English - Building up an awareness of the animals protection - Practicing communicative skills through learning activities - Demonstrating team-working and problem-solving skills through learning activities - Skills: listening and speaking 3. Personal qualities - Raising interests of animals - Building up an awareness of protecting animals II. Teaching aids: Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, IWB software, projector/interactive whiteboard/TV. Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures: Warm-up - Option 1: Sing and Dance.
- Play “Animals” song (from YouTube) and make gestures following the lyric, have students stand up and make the gestures A- Listen and point. Say (10’) 1. Arrange the flashcards on the board. Play audio and have students listen and point to the pictures in their books. 2. Play audio again and have students listen, repeat several times. 3. Change the order of the flashcards, point to them individually and have students say the words, correct pronunciation when needed. 4. TPR practice: say the word and do the gestures/ sounds according to the word (Ex: cat- meow, use hands to make the whiskers/ claws B- Listen and point. (10’) 1. Pre- listening. Introduce the situation: ask students some questions about the pictures, e.g. “What can you see in the picture? What is this? Where is the girl?...” 2. While- listening. Play audio and have students look at the pictures. 3. While- listening. Demonstrate the activity by pointing to the new vocabulary items. 4. Play audio again. Have students listen and point. 5. Post- listening. Point at each picture and have students say the sentences “I like birds/dogs/cats.” 6. (Optional): Activities on i-ebook C- Sing. (5’) 1. Play audio and have students listen. 2. Have students turn to page 70. 3. Read the lyrics as a whole class. 4. Play audio again and have students listen and sing along. Activity TPR practice
- • Say the word and all together make the gestures/ sound according to the word (Ex: monkey- kec kec, use hands to do actions like a monkey). • Teacher can make the gestures and have students guess what animal is. • Or Teacher can say an animal and have students make the gestures. Wrap-up Review. Listen and point. • Arrange all the flashcards of Unit 5 in different area on the board. • Teacher says a name of a flashcard. • Students use their fingers to point to the flashcard and say it loudly. PROCEDURES Warm-up (5’) Review - Sing “What’s this? What’s that?” song - Introduce the new lesson by showing the pictures (soccer, tag, hopscotch, hide-seek) on the board. - Teacher tells the class the activities of the lesson. I. Presentation 1. Teach vocabulary (7’) - Use body gesture to introduce the new words (soccer, tag, hopscotch, hide-seek). - Have students listen to each new word. - Show the pictures of the part A on the projector and ask students to open the books.(T34) - Play audio, and point to each flashcard for students to listen (CD1 - Track 66) - Play audio again and have students point to the pictures in their books. - Play audio again and have students listen and repeat.
- - Have students work in pairs, one of them points to the picture in the book and the other says the word. - Call some pairs to the board and check. - Organize for students to play the game "guessing game” - Divide the class into two teams. - One do actions to describe the games, one guess what game is it and change - One student from each team calls out the game. 2. Introduce sentence pattern (6’) - Have students look at the picture and identify the details. Ask some questions about the picture. - Introduce the situation: “The children are playing together.” - Play audio and have students look at the picture. - Demonstrate the activity by pointing to the new vocabulary items. - Play audio. - - Ask students to call out the activity of picture number 1, then think and circle the correct words. This is an example. - Have students do the remains then compare their answers. - Check understanding as a whole class and give the correct answers to the students. 2. Game. "Simon says" game (5’) Tell students they must only follow commands that start with "Simon says " (E.g. Simons says play tag.) Demonstrate the game by giving the students different commands. If the command starts with "Simon says " students must do the action. If it doesn’t start with "Simon says " students who do the action must sit down. Have one student come to the front of the class to be "Simon". Swap roles and repeat with a new "Simon". III. Production * Sing. (CD1 – Track 68) (5’) - Have students turn to page 34. - Play audio and have students listen. - Read the lyrics, clap the hands and do actions following them. - Play audio and have students listen, sing along, and do the actions. - Divide the class into pairs, one student sings the command and the other clap their hands and does the action. Task 3: Let’s talk - Tell ss that they are going to practice more with their friends. - Give a few seconds for ss to look at the pictures. - Elicit the words to fill the gap.

Point and say - Tell S that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about where someone was in the past - Have them look at the bubbles and identify where the people were yesterday - Teach how to use “to be” with the past Was is used with singular pronoun Were is used with plural ones - Teach the phrases: at home, at the zoo, on the beach, in the school library - Point to the first picture and teach them sentence pattern: Where were you yesterday?- I was at home.
