  1. Period 2 Planning date: 11/9/22 UNIT 1: Local Environment Lesson 1: Getting started A. AIMS OF THE LESSON I. Knowledge By the end of this lesson, students will be able to : - Listen and read for specific information about Nick's, Phuc's and Mi's visit to Bat Trang traditional craft village. - Know more about traditional craft villages and places of interest in our country. - Do some exercises with the lexical items related to traditional craft village. II. Ability : - Students can improve their listening and reading skills. - Students can develop the ability to cooperate with their partners, to self-study and to solve problems. - Positive about local environment. - Students know how to learn English in right way. III. Quality : - Raise motivations and interests in learning English as a foreign language - Develop communicative and team-working skills through learning activities - Co-operation. - Self- study. - Ss are interested in and proud of the traditional crafts B. TEACHING AIDS - Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, projector or TV - Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks. C. PROCEDURE I. Warm-up: Greetings. Watching video. - Give Ss to watch a video about traditional handicrafts in Viet Nam at the address - After watching, ask them which topic the video mentions. - T: In video clip, the reader mention some traditional handicraft such as pottery, stone carving, embroidery etc. paintings Brainstorming. drums silk lanterns... - Asks Ss which other traditional they know. - Ss list – T writes. conical hat Traditional II. Presentation: handicrafts Activity 1: Vocabulary. - Use explaination to introduce vocalbulary: - Handicraft (n) = a thing which is skilfully made with your hand. - Artisans (n) = people who do skilled work, making things with their hands. - Attraction (n) = an interesting or enjoyable place to go or thing to do. - Specific region (n) = a particular place. - Set up (v) = start something.
  2. - Take over (v) = take control of something. - Remind (v) = make someone remember or think about something. - Have students listen and repeat each new word. (chorally – individually) - Correct student’s pronunciation if necessary. Activity 2: Set the scene. - Ask Ss some questions to lead in the conversation. How many people ? Where are they? What are they talking about? III. Practice: Activity 3: Listening. - Asks Ss listen the conversation. Reading. - Work in groups of three. - Let Ss read the conversation. - Call out some good pairs reading the conversation in front of class. Activity 4: Answer the questions. (Ex.1.b) - Groups work. + Ss disscus to answer the questions. Game : Lucky number. - Divide class into 2 groups to play this game. + Questions and answer. 1. How old is the village? - about 700 years old. 2. Why is the village a place of interest in Hanoi? - Because people can buy things for their house and make pottery themselves there. 3. Where are Nick, Mi, and Phong? - at Phong's grandparents' workshop in Bat Trang. 4. LN 5. Who started Phong’s family workshop? - His great-grandparents. 6. Where is the craft village that Mi visited? - It's in Hue. 7.LN 8. Why do tourists like to buy handicrafts as souvenirs? - Because the handicrafts remind them of a specific region. IV. Production.   6. - Use some common phrasal verbs correctly and appropriately. - Make the use of vocabulary related to traditional crafts. II. Ability: - Students can use the complex sentences and some common phrasal verbs in speaking and writing. - Students can develop the ability to cooperate with their partners, to self-study. - Students know how to learn English in right way. III. Quality: - Raise motivations and interests in learning English as a foreign language - Ss are interested in and proud of the traditional crafts. - Positive about local environment. B. TEACHING AIDS - Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, projector or TV - Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks. C. PROCEDURE concession I.
