- Lesson plan 8 – Week 5 Date of planing: 08/ 10/ 2022 Period 13 UNIT 2: LIFE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE Lesson 5: Skills 1 A. OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to: I. Knowledge: - Read for specific information about an unusual lifestyle in the countryside - Talk about what they likes or dislikes from a nomadic life to the countryside in Viet Nam. II. Competences: - Improve the use of English. - Develop their reading and speaking skill, creativity, cooperation, self-learning, problem solving, III. Attributes : - Have positive attitude in English language learning to participate in all classroom activities with the topic “life in the countryside”. - Build good habits for themselves and kick bad ones. B. TEACHING AIDS - Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, projector. - Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks. C. PROCEDURE I. Warm up: -Write the phrase "Gobi Highlands" on the board and asks Ss if they know what and where it is. - Show Sts some pictures and asks Ss to pick the ones they think are Mongolia. II. Pre-reading 1. Activity 1. Match the description with the words/ phraseses Words/ Phrases Description 1. ger a. a life on the move 2. dairy products b. a circular tent in which Mongolian nomads live 3. cattle c. grasslands 4. nomadic life d. milk, goats, cheese 5. pastures e. cows, goats, buffaloes..
- + Ask Ss to try to guess the meanings of these words, and match the description with the words/ phraseses. Keys: 1.b 2.d 3.e 4.a 5.c III. While – reading. Activity1:Choose the most suitable heading A,B, or C for each paragraph. - Ask Sts to read the heading and make sure they understand their meanings. - Have Sts to read each part of the passage quickly and choose the correct heading for it. - Ask Sts to underline the words / phrases which helps them make their decision. - Give Sts to exchange their answers. - Check the answers as a class. Nomadic children's lives Activity 2: Choose the best answer - Have Sts to read the passages again and choose the best answer A, B, C,or D. - Ask them to read the questions and do the exercises independently. - Give feedback and evaluation. Interwiew your partner to find out what he/she likes/ doesn’t like about the life of the nomads. A. What do you like about their nomadic life? B. Well, the children learn to ride a horse. A. And What don’t you like about it? B. They can’t live permanently in one place + Ask Sts to underline at least one thing they like about Mongolian nomadic life and one thing they don't like about it. - Have Sts to talk about the reasons they like and dislike about nomadic life. - Ask some pairs to report on their likes and dislikes. - Ask Sts to make two lists of their likes and dislikes on the board and see which ideas are the most common.

- Lesson plan 8 – Week 5 Date of planing: 08/ 10/ 2022 Period 14 UNIT 2: LIFE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE Lesson 6: Skills 2 A. OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson Sts will be able to: I. Knowledge: - Listen for specific information about changes in the countryside - Write a short paragraph about changes in the countryside - Develop skills : listening, speaking and writing. II. Competences: - Improve the use of English. - Develop their listening and writing skill, creativity, cooperation, self-learning, problem solving, III. Attributes : -Have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities. -Show their kindness to their hometown, family, love for their country. B. TEACHING AIDS - Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, projector. - Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks. C. PROCEDURE Warm up: Chatting Do you live in the city or the countryside? Where do your grandparent live? - Tell me some of the changes recently in the countryside? I. Pre listening Activity 1: Listen and tick - Have Sts time to look at the changes (A-F). Ask questions to make sure that Sts understand the meaning of the words/ phrases. -Play the recording and Sts tick the changes which are mentioned. Check if the know the word “earthen”.

For exercise: earthen house -> brick house - Place Ss into groups of three or four - Ask Sts to work together to decide which rural area they will talk about. They then discuss and note down some changes they can find in this area. - Ask ( T can guide their writing by providing them with some key words/phrases like: “ The first change is...” or “The change we are the most interested in is...”) IV. Knowledge: - Revise the grammar points, vocabulary they have learnt and then practice doing exercise. - Write the activities they will do during the trip to the countryside and do the project in group. II. Competences: - Review the previous lessons and be well-prepared for any assessment. - Improve the listening, reading, speaking and writing skills. III. Attributes : - Have positive attitude in English language learning so that they actively participate in all classroom activities. - Show their kindness to their school, love for their their hometown, family, love for their country. B. TEACHING AIDS - Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, projector. - Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks. C. PROCEDURE Warm up: L O O K I N G B A C K - Encourage Ss to complete Looking Back without referring to previous sections in the unit. I. Vocabulary: Activity 1: Ex.1- P24 - Ask Sts to complete this exercise independently. T checks the answers. Competences: - Improve their 2 skills (Main skills: Reading and Speaking; Sub-skill: listening) - Develop the ability to cooperate with their partners, to self-study, to solve problems in real situation .. III. Attributes : - Have positive attitude in English language learning to participate in all classroom activities with the topic “City life”. - Build good habits for themselves and kick bad ones. B. Competences: - Improve their 2 skills (Main skills: Listening and writing; Sub-skill: Reading) - Develop the ability to cooperate with their partners, to self-study, to solve problems in real situation . - Present some places of interest in the city life. III. Attributes : - Have positive attitude in English language learning to participate in all classroom activities with the topic “City life”. - Show their kindness to The city life B. Her office is seven km away but it takes her two hours to get there by car every day. "Some cities have problems with pollution, crime, or bad weather - here we have traffic jams," she says. Before going to the office, she has to take her children to school - so she sets off at 5 am. The children sleep until they arrive at school. Then Suzanne begins her journey to the office. In the evening the traffic is even worse. Traffic moves in the city centre at half a kilometre an hour. In rainy weather it doesn't move at all. But why is it so bad? In the past, more people moved around Bangkok by boat. Now so many people have a car, and there aren't enough roads in the city. The Sky train and metro can help a bit, but they are limited in range and don't cover all parts of the city. III. Post Listening Writing: Activity 1: Read and complete the outline -Ask Sts to read the sample paragraph carefully and complete the outline. - Tell them to pay attention to the connectors/markers: Firstly, Secondly, Thirdly.
- Outline: Topic sentence: Living in a city has a member of drawbacks. Problem 1: traffic jams and traffic accidents Problem 2: air pollution Problem 3: noise/noise pollution Conclusion: These factors contribute to making city life more difficult for its residents. Activity 2: Write a paragraph - Have Sts to write the paragraph in about 100 words. Make sure that they use their outline, along with connectors first/firstly, second/secondly, and pay attention to spelling and punctuation. - Tell Sts to use the passage in 4 to help them structure their paragraph. - Collect some Ss' papers and mark them, then give comments to the class. IV. Homework: - Learn by heart vocabulary and make example using them. - Do exercises part E in workbook. - Prepare for ‘Looking back + project’.
